As a counsellor
Over the past 9 years I have been a counsellor at a number of voluntary counselling organisations and worked in private practise. I cover a wide range of counselling areas, including depression, anxiety, low-self esteem and bereavement, and I have a particular interest in working with clients to improve their relationships.
As a counsellor, I am supportive and, at times, challenging. I believe that to be effective, counselling shouldn’t be too comfortable, but that you should feel safe and supported to explore and discuss what is troubling you. Depending on your needs, I tailor my approach drawing from a range of therapeutic styles and techniques, and coaching.
I have regular supervision, am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their Code of Ethics. I am fully insured to work as a private counsellor.
As a trainer
I’ve a long professional career with a number of senior roles in consultancy, local government and the civil service. I understand – and have experienced – stress. The sprints for deadlines. The spinning too many plates and fearing which ones I’ll drop. The impostor syndrome. The navigating change and constant uncertainty. The bullies. Long-term, chronic stress. And eventually, the breakdown.
It wasn’t until my breakdown that I learnt how avoidable it should have been and how I could help build my own resilience. I now teach workers, managers and senior leaders everywhere to address their stress and become more resilient. Let me help you too.
And being a mother of 3, it’s so important to me to teach our children these life-saving, emotional management skills to younger generations – our programmes for schools and FE/HE really do make such a difference.
